Many ventures start out by seeking pre-orders from early adopters, folks who know they won’t be getting a finished product right now but who are willing to get in line. If you’ve developed a prototype of a new product, like a hat with integrated earbuds, and customers are flocking to your website to place pre-orders, that’s a strong indicator that your solution is viable. Actual sales are, of course, even better feedback.
